Read: Romans 8:29-30, Philippians 1:6
Have you ever felt like there’s a mountain in front of you that you’ll never be able to climb? My weight feels like that mountain to me. I know all the things. I understand calories in and calories out. I’ve counted points and macros, had gym memberships, and seen dietitians. I’ve tried Paleo, Mediterranean, 75 Hard, keto—you name it. For me and others in the same boat, weight loss and health have never been about a lack of knowledge or effort. And yet, perfect health seems to elude me.
I’m confident that if you’re human, you have your own mountain too. Maybe it’s a difficult relationship, a habit you can’t break, or a version of yourself that you feel you’ll never measure up to. It’s already tough enough being human, but when you start comparing yourself to others, all hope can feel lost. But I have a truth I need to share with you today—one you might not believe at first, but if you grasp it, it will make the impossible seem possible again.
Many of us have met Christians who seem to be on a completely different spiritual level—they’re kind, patient, forgiving, and filled with wisdom. It can be easy to feel discouraged, believing that you’ll never reach that level of Christlikeness. But Scripture teaches us a profound truth: God has predestined every believer to be conformed to the image of His Son. That’s not just for the super-spiritual—it’s for you.
Becoming like Jesus is not an unreachable goal reserved for a select few. It’s God’s plan and destiny for every child of God. The process is slow and often filled with struggles, but God is faithful to complete the good work He started in you. Transformation is not about achieving spiritual greatness overnight; it’s about daily surrendering to the work God is doing in your heart, trusting that He is shaping you into the image of Christ.
Questions for Reflection:
- Where in your life do you feel discouraged about spiritual growth?
- How can you lean into God’s promise to complete the work He started in you?
- What does it look like for you to daily surrender to God’s transforming work?
