Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
— Ephesians 4:2

This verse encourages us to have a Godly attitude characterized by humility, gentleness, patience, and love. A humble attitude means having a low view of ourselves and a high view of God. It means acknowledging our weaknesses and depending on God’s strength. A gentle attitude is one characterized by kindness, compassion, and understanding, seeking the well-being of others. Patience is a virtue of self-control that helps us bear with others, even when it is difficult. And bearing with one another in love means being patient and kind with others as we would like them to treat us.

It might surprise you that this attitude can help you be more successful by allowing you to approach your goals and responsibilities with a sense of perspective and open-mindedness. In living this way, you will recognize that you don’t have all the answers and can learn from others. It also means being willing to admit your mistakes and learn from them. It helps you practice gratitude and acknowledge the contributions of others. Who doesn’t want to work with the person that lives out those values?

Prayer:
Dear Lord, please help us have a godly attitude characterized by humility, gentleness, patience, and love. Remind us to put the needs of others before our own and to bear with one another in love. Give us the strength and wisdom to be patient and kind, even in difficult situations. Allow us to reflect your love and grace to the world and to bring glory to your name. In Jesus’s name, amen.
