Read: Romans 8:18, 2 Corinthians 4:17

One of the most challenging seasons in my life was taking care of my dad when he was dying of cancer. Every day felt heavy, and the pain of watching someone you love suffer is overwhelming. In those moments, it was hard to see beyond the immediate struggle. But I learned that holding onto hope—knowing that this life isn’t the end of the story—gave me strength. It didn’t make the pain disappear, but it reminded me that the suffering I was experiencing was temporary, and that there’s an eternal glory that will far outweigh the present hurt.

Suffering is real, and it’s hard. But as Christians, we have a hope that goes beyond our present circumstances. The Apostle Paul, who faced incredible trials and suffering, reminds us that no matter how intense our pain may be, it pales in comparison to the glory that awaits us in eternity.

This doesn’t mean our pain doesn’t matter—it does. But it also means that suffering isn’t the end of the story. God promises to work all things together for good, and He has prepared an eternity for us where pain, suffering, and death will be no more. Holding onto that hope can sustain us through even the darkest times.

Questions for Reflection:

  1. How does the promise of eternal glory give you hope in your current struggles?
  2. What are some practical ways you can remind yourself of God’s promises during tough times?
  3. How can you encourage others with the hope of eternity?
