Read: Matthew 6:31-33

I am a planner: budgets, schedules, and contingency plans for every scenario. It’s probably because I have anxiety, but I believe that if I can control everything, I’ll feel secure. Most of the time, it’s helpful—until life happens.

Just last week, I had a financial mix-up, my brakes went out, I lost a crown on my tooth and had to get it replaced, and an unexpected medical bill landed—all within 24 hours! It was completely out of my control and way over my budget.

But God is good, and somehow, everything worked out. Miraculously, the math didn’t even add up. In that moment, I realized something profound: God’s provision isn’t just a concept—it’s personal. He cares about the details of our lives and shows up in ways we don’t expect.

This is exactly what Jesus teaches in Matthew 6:31–33. God doesn’t want us to live in fear, constantly worrying about having enough. Instead, He invites us to seek His kingdom first, trusting that He will provide for our needs. If God can be trusted with the big things—like our salvation—then surely He can be trusted with our daily needs.

When we truly believe this, generosity flows naturally. We can give freely because we know that God will take care of us. Releasing our hold on material things becomes an act of faith, declaring, “God is enough.” And often, He provides not just what we need, but in ways that surprise us with His abundance.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What worries do you need to release to God today?
  2. How does trusting God’s provision impact your generosity?
  3. What is one way you can seek God’s kingdom over material security?
