It’s really sort of amazing that an event that happened over 2,000 years ago can still have a profound impact on us today. We even date our calendar by this event. It was the birth of a baby, the birth of a savior. The gift of that first Christmas is a gift that keeps on giving. Some might ask, “What is so special about Christmas?” Let’s take a look at that today.
The first Christmas happened because we needed Him to come. We needed a savior. We needed encouragement. We needed hope. The gift of Christmas provides those things.
The gift of Christmas was personal. It was for you. The gift of a savior was for our benefit. “Unto you is born this day a savior.”
The gift of Christmas is practical. You have been given a Christmas gift you really need.
Even before we knew we needed a savior, we were provided one.
The gift of Christmas is priceless. It cost the Son of God his life. Even while we were sinners, Christ died for us.
The gift of Christmas is permanent. The warranty on this gift is amazing. This gift will last forever, throughout eternity.
The first Christmas gift provides us forgiveness for our past and future sins. It provides help, hope and power for living today, and an eternal life with our Savior. What a great gift!
But a wonderful gift unopened is a worthless gift. If you have not accepted and opened this gift from God, do it today. Don’t let another Christmas go by without accepting and unwrapping God’s gift to you.
If you are already a child of God, now is a good time to give thanks to Him for His gift to you!
