Read: James 1:17

I never really understood what the big deal about Christmas was. Sure, it was fun as a kid—presents, candy, and time off from school—but it wasn’t something our family went all out for. As I grew older, the excitement wore off, and Christmas became just another day on the calendar. That’s how I felt—until I spent Christmas with the Domingos.

The outpouring of love and joy in their home was incredible. It wasn’t just about the gifts; it was about the way they gave themselves to each other—through food, laughter, and time. It felt like every interaction was a celebration, and their joy was contagious. They welcomed me in like family, and for the first time, I saw what it looked like to give without holding anything back.

That experience opened my eyes to something I had been missing: love expressed through generosity. And it made me realize that this is exactly how God relates to us.

James 1:17 tells us that “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights.” God’s heart is one of abundant giving. His generosity is not about grand gestures alone but about the everyday blessings we often overlook—the breath in our lungs, the warmth of the sun, the people in our lives. But the greatest gift He ever gave is His Son, Jesus. If God didn’t hold back His only Son, we can trust that He will provide everything we need.

Recognizing God as a generous giver frees us to live differently. When we stop worrying about scarcity, we can love and give with open hands, reflecting the heart of the One who has given everything for us.
