Read: Mark 12:43-44

The story of the widow’s offering is one of the most humbling passages in the Gospels. While others gave large sums from their abundance, this woman gave everything she had, despite her poverty. I think we all go through a season when giving doesn’t come easy. Bills are stacking up, and unexpected expenses keep appearing from every direction. Finances are stretched thin, but there’s still this inner tug to keep giving faithfully, even though part of us wants to hold back.

When we choose to give when it doesn’t make sense, faith is stretched in unexpected ways. God’s provision doesn’t always follow a plan we can see. And time after time, He shows up, often through means I hadn’t anticipated. It’s a reminder that real generosity often requires stepping beyond comfort and leaning fully on faith.

The story of the widow in Mark 12:43–44 captures this beautifully. While others give from their wealth, she gives from her poverty—all that she has to live on. Her gift isn’t about the amount but about the heart behind it. Her sacrifice costs her dearly, and yet Jesus honors her gift as one of profound faith and trust.

This story invites us to reconsider how we approach generosity. Are we giving only what’s comfortable, or are we willing to stretch beyond security into faith? Sacrificial giving can feel risky, but it’s here that faith deepens and God’s provision shines. When we give in ways that require trust, we open ourselves to experience God’s provision in miraculous ways.
