Read: 1 Chronicles 29:14
Things really changed in my giving when I realized that giving was an act of worship. Literally, it is a chance for me to recognize the power and generosity of God working in my life!
There’s something powerful about giving when it’s done with a spirit of worship. Imagine someone preparing a gift, not out of obligation but out of love, like a child proudly offering their artwork to a parent. There’s joy in the act, a sense of delight in giving something precious as an expression of love.
This is the heart of King David’s words in 1 Chronicles 29:14. Reflecting on the offerings given for the temple, he says, “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.” David sees their generosity not as a duty, but as a gift back to God, recognizing that everything they have is from Him.
When we approach giving with this mindset, it becomes more than an act of charity—it becomes worship. Generosity shifts from something we’re parting with to something we’re joyfully offering back to God. Our giving reflects a heart that treasures God above material wealth, honoring Him with what He has provided.
Each time we give, we have a chance to participate in God’s work, aligning our priorities with His. It’s an invitation to worship, to reflect His generosity, and to find joy in contributing to His kingdom mission.
Reflection Questions:
