Read: Galatians 5:1

Feeling trapped by your struggles is one of the worst feelings. I’ve been there. In those seasons, no matter how hard I try to break free, I feel stuck in a cycle I can’t escape. I read scriptures about freedom in Christ, but I can’t shake the feeling that it isn’t meant for me. It’s as if I’m still living in chains, even though Jesus has already set me free. And that’s the key to experiencing freedom—remembering that I am free. The problem wasn’t that I wasn’t free; it was that I wasn’t standing firm in that freedom. I was letting the weight of my past failures hold me down, instead of living in the freedom Christ had already won for me.

The good news of the gospel is that Jesus came to set us free. Free from sin, free from shame, and free from the habits that enslave us. Yet, even as Christians, we often live like we’re still in chains. We return to the same old sins, feeling stuck in a cycle of failure. But Galatians 5 reminds us that Christ has already set us free.

Our job is to stand firm in that freedom and not let ourselves fall back into old patterns. This doesn’t mean we’ll never struggle again, but it does mean that we have the power, through Christ, to resist the pull of sin. Freedom in Christ isn’t just theoretical—it’s practical and available to us every day.

Questions to Reflect On:

  1. In what areas of your life are you still living as though you’re in bondage?
  2. How can you stand firm in the freedom Christ has given you?
  3. What steps can you take to walk in that freedom daily?
