Read: Psalm 139:7-10
Our emotions can sometimes trick us into believing that God is far away when He is, in fact, always near. Just because we don’t feel Him doesn’t mean He isn’t there. Like a cloud temporarily obscuring the sun, our feelings can overshadow the reality of God’s unwavering presence, but they cannot extinguish it.
In today’s fast-paced society, we’re often encouraged to “follow our feelings” or “trust our gut.” While emotions are a natural part of being human, they are not always reliable indicators of truth. God’s presence is constant, even when our awareness of it fluctuates. The psalmist David eloquently reminds us that there’s nowhere we can go where God is not already present—whether we’re soaring on the heights of joy or wading through the depths of despair.
We need to remind ourselves that God’s nearness is not dependent on our feelings. His Word assures us that He is always with us, no matter where we go or how we feel. In moments of doubt, we can activate our faith by standing on the truth of Scripture rather than the shifting sands of emotion. This might involve meditating on God’s promises, recalling past experiences of His faithfulness, or simply whispering a prayer of trust when words fail us.
Remember, feelings are fleeting, but God’s presence is eternal. By anchoring our faith in the unchanging character of God, we can find peace and assurance even when our emotions suggest otherwise. Let’s choose to believe in His closeness, trusting that He is walking beside us through every season of life.
