Read: Revelation 21:4, Romans 8:18
It might surprise you to hear this, but even though I am the Online Campus Pastor, I try not to spend too much time online. The internet is a powerful tool for connection, but it can also be a place designed to break you. If you spend too much time there, you start to believe that the darkness is winning and that all hope is lost. The endless stream of bad news, arguments, and brokenness can feel overwhelming if you are not careful.
That feeling is not limited to the digital world. In real life too, it can seem like evil has the upper hand. We watch the news, walk through personal losses, and deal with injustice that seems to have no end. But the Bible tells us the real story. Evil may still make noise, but it has already been defeated. Jesus has won the victory, and a day is coming when every tear will be wiped away and all mourning and pain will be gone forever.
God’s promise is not vague or symbolic. It is certain. What we experience now with grief, struggle, and injustice will not last. In its place will be a new reality where God’s love and justice reign completely. Our present sufferings, as painful as they are, are nothing compared to the glory that is ahead. This gives us hope that is strong enough to carry us through even the darkest days.
In the meantime, we are called to keep our eyes fixed on what is true. Evil may seem loud for now, but it is not lasting. Suffering may feel overwhelming, but it is not eternal. Because of Jesus, the end of the story has already been written, and it is a story of victory, healing, and everlasting joy.
Reflection Questions:
- How does spending too much time focusing on the world’s darkness affect your hope and faith?
- What can you do this week to intentionally fix your eyes on God’s promises?
- How does the certainty of Christ’s victory help you live differently today?
