Most people, myself included, pray that God would give us more. More stuff, more peace, more faith, pretty much more of everything that is good. My prayer, if I am honest, has nothing to do with me blessing others but with me being blessed by God. I want all God has to offer me and not a bit less.

Somewhere in my walk with Jesus I started to believe the lie that it was all about me. I started to believe that God was going to give me more because he wanted to bless me, enrich me, nurture me. Yet, in scripture, it seems that God blesses us so that we can bless others.

In the gospel of Luke, Jesus tells a parable about a servant who in unfaithful to his master. The servant had failed to be a good steward of the resources that God had entrusted to him. In a sharp reprimand, Jesus said this to the crowds listening along:

…From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
— Luke 12:48

Pretty strong words from Jesus. Pretty great reminder for all of us.

As God entrusts us with blessings we must remember that a blessing from God demands responsibility from us. God requires that we be faithful stewards with his resources. We are the managers and God is the owner. It is my prayer that, as God entrusts his blessings with the people of c|Life, that we remember the responsibility that we have as stewards of the King’s resources.
