Iron Sharpens Iron

Do you remember when you received that amazing knife set as a wedding gift when you got married? The knives cut through anything and everything with ease. They were fun to use. They were helpful. But then, over time the knives became dull. It became easier to pull apart the meat than to cut it, and then you have that aha moment: “ I need to sharpen these things!”

Do you know that you, as a person, needs to be sharpened? Maybe over time, your convictions have begun to dull. Maybe your time with Jesus has begun to weaken. Maybe your relationship with your spouse or some of your best friends has begun to fade. It’s time to get sharpened.

How do you get sharp again? Jesus-people stay sharp by being together. You cannot sharpen yourself. It takes another piece of iron. It may be difficult. It may be uncomfortable. But Jesus people sharpen each other.

QUESTIONS:
Do you feel sharp or dull? How have you remained sharp, or how did you become dull?

Who are the people in your life that you trust can sharpen you?

PRAY:
Jesus, I want to stay sharp. Help me see the places in my life that have become dull. Make it obvious, the people in my life that can help sharpen me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
