Read: John 15:4-5, Colossians 3:16
I love technology. I grew up watching shows like The Jetsons and Star Trek, and I couldn’t wait to have a flying car, a replicator to cook my dinner, and a computer to turn on my lights and manage my household. So we got the talking computers, and we’re still waiting on the rest. But you know what those TV shows never showed? How all of those devices need to be charged! If you’ve ever traveled and left your charger at home or just forgot to plug your phone in at night, then you know how important a power source is to make everything function properly.
We all know that charging your phone once a month and expecting it to last until the next charge is foolish. In less than a day, your phone will die, which is long before you can use it to its full potential. So what’s the point? Just as your phone needs to be charged daily to function properly, our spiritual lives need a daily connection to Christ to remain vibrant and fruitful.
Abiding in Christ is not a one-time event but a daily practice. Just as a branch must remain connected to the vine to bear fruit, we must remain connected to Jesus to live a fruitful life. This connection is nurtured through daily practices such as prayer, reading Scripture, and keeping our minds focused on Christ.
In Colossians 3:16, Paul encourages believers to let the word of Christ dwell in them richly. This means allowing God’s Word to permeate every aspect of our lives, guiding our thoughts, actions, and interactions with others. When we abide in Christ and His Word dwells in us, our lives will naturally produce fruit that glorifies God.
Reflect on how you are abiding in Christ daily. What practices help you stay connected to Him? Consider how you can deepen your daily connection with Jesus, allowing His presence to transform your life and produce fruit that honors Him.
Questions for Reflection:
- How are you currently abiding in Christ daily?
- What practices can you incorporate to strengthen your connection to Jesus?
- How does abiding in Christ impact the fruitfulness of your life?
