Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life…
— Philippians 2:14–16

In the past few decades, there has been a major cultural shift that is proving to be detrimental to society. Unfortunately, many Christians have fallen for it. Look all over social media and TikTok, and you will see it. People pride themselves on telling people off. They defeat the Karens by acting like Karens. They brag about how badly they treat other people, and even reenact imaginary situations where they are cruel and cut people down to size to the applause of people in the comment section. Instead of celebrating having a godly attitude in a fallen world, we started acting like the world and praising one another for hating people that God called us to love.

This verse from Philippians 3 says it best:

Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things.
— Philippians 3:19

Philippians 2 emphasizes the importance of having a Godly attitude, one that is free of grumbling and arguing. This kind of attitude is not only pleasing to God, but it is also a reflection of the righteousness granted to us through Christ. When we let go of our desires to be justified and put others before ourselves, we become the light that shines for the world to see. We become the reflection of Christ to those around us, and it allows God to better use us in his work.

Prayer:
Dear Lord, help us have a Godly attitude that is free of grumbling and arguing. Remind us to be blameless and pure, children of God, and shining examples of Christ in a world that often goes against Your will. Give us the strength to put others before ourselves, and to hold firmly to the word of life. Use us to reflect your love and grace to the world. In Jesus’s name, amen.
