Read: Galatians 4:1-5
What does it truly mean to be a son or a daughter?
In Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis writes:
"The Son of God became a man to enable men to become sons of God.”
Paul begins to draw from a huge economic divide to show the power of what it means to be accepted by God from a slave to a son.
We begin to see that what Jesus has done for us is like the redemption a slave experiences by being bought from a slave market. However, also simultaneously, like a son in a wealthy household receiving an inheritance.
The gospel message isn’t just the transfer of sin from us, but the rights of a son transferred to us.
Inheritance isn’t earned, but it is received because of the rights of being a son or a daughter.
In the same way, the acceptance of God cannot be earned, but it is received like an inheritance, and the time has come.
Question:
How does this impact the way you approach God knowing you have received grace as an inheritance, not a prize?
We would like to thank Powerhouse Hills for providing this plan.
