Read John 16:8–11.

Empowerment refers to the work of the Holy Spirit that enables and permits us to do any act or ministry God has tasked us with.

The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He shows us our need for a savior and points us to Jesus. He also helps us to understand what it means to live righteously and to follow in the footsteps of Jesus.

But the Holy Spirit does not just convict us. He also empowers us. Jesus says in John 16:11, “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.”

The Holy Spirit guides us into all truth and helps us understand the things of God. He gives us the wisdom and understanding we need to live out our faith. He also gives us the power and strength to overcome sin and to live for Christ.

As we seek to be empowered by the Holy Spirit, let us pray for his guidance and strength. Let us also seek to be filled with the Holy Spirit, allowing him to work in our lives and lead us in the way we should go. May we be obedient to the leading of the Holy Spirit, and may we allow him to empower us to live for Christ.
