Our main ministry focus is supporting our local partners in their community service. We often contribute to their training sessions during the Expansion Conference for local church leaders and members. Topics range from entrepreneurship to godly marriages, providing opportunities to engage with families, share your faith, and enjoy time with the children.
Andrew and Courtney Ronshausen have lived and served in Iquitos, Peru for over a decade. They serve through the ministry of Genesis Church in Iquitos. God has placed them permanently in Peru to further the gospel. You will be amazed by their sincerity, their love for the Peruvian people and their passion for making Jesus known. Their children are Tedy, Pippa and Petra.
Expect a relaxed pace and remain adaptable to changing schedules in this culturally-rich environment. Our ministry partners face the challenge of overcoming deep-rooted witchcraft beliefs, which may surface in conversations with local families. Although many identify as Catholics, attendance at local churches is low, and spiritual darkness prevails. The church we collaborate with shares our theological beliefs, and most people you will encounter have a personal relationship with Jesus.
Our usual accommodations in Iquitos are conveniently located near the local church but are more basic. They offer essential amenities like running water, but luxuries such as hot water might be limited. We'll strive to secure the best available options. Meals typically have a variety of choices, including rice, rotisserie-style chicken, and fresh fruits. If you have dietary restrictions, please inform the trip leader immediately to accommodate your needs effectively.
At Community Life Church, the safety of all participants is paramount. A designated curfew will be in place to ensure accountability after free time. We won't permit travel to potentially hazardous areas and will vigilantly monitor any emerging threats to our participants' safety. Non-compliance with safety guidelines may necessitate early departure at the participant's expense.
There are lots of opportunities for cultural outings, including:
Anyone who is willing to go and share the love of Jesus. We will do our best to leverage your skills, but we also ask that you would be willing to serve in whatever capacity is needed. Translators are available to help with communication.
Leading up to the trip, we'll have meetings with a spiritual focus. These, along with pre-trip devotionals and assigned readings, aim to prepare you for the journey. Our sessions will delve into understanding your identity in Christ, sharing the Gospel through your story, and strengthening your personal relationship with Christ. We encourage you to wholeheartedly embrace the opportunity to spread the Gospel and reflect on your experiences afterward.

Please consult with your doctor to ensure you are up to date on all routine vaccines and follow any guidelines related to your specific health needs. We will submit to the requirements of both the USA and Peru so please make sure you are aware of and comfortable with the requirements before submitting a deposit. CDC will recommend taking anti-malaria meds but that is not required by the church. That is purely at your discretion.
