Our primary mission focus is assisting local partners in their community service. We contribute to various initiatives, including business seminars and medical teams (offering wound care, blood pressure checks, and education). We engage with schools in the local villages by conducting VBS for children while teachers partake in professional development. We also interact with the Bible college by providing medical checks for students and teachers. Additionally, we may support emerging leaders and engage in leadership dinners. There are many outreach opportunities on this amazing trip!
In Ghana, our ministry partners are the Aputara Family of Strategic Community Ministries. Our collaboration has given rise to Community Life Bible College, a valuable resource for training Bible teachers to share the gospel in their communities. Our partnership with Stephen Aputara began in 2008, and his mission to establish a church within a mile of every person continues through his children. The Aputara family extends their remarkable generosity and hospitality to all they meet leaving a profound impact.
The culture emphasizes modesty in attire, with women favoring dresses and skirts. People in the villages live in traditional mud huts, removed from stores. The community embraces diverse religions, fostering peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians, though converted Christians may face family issues. English is spoken by many children and teachers with the help of translators. However, there are many tribal languages as well and may require the use of multiple translators. The culture prizes hospitality and generosity, exemplified by the craft of "Bolga baskets" in Bolgatanga and neighboring villages.
Our hotels, like the Doxa Court hotel in Bolgatanga, generally offer amenities such as hot water and A/C. Most evening meals and all breakfasts are enjoyed at the hotel and feature many foods you would find in the US. Snacks and protein bars are recommended to eat throughout the day. Additionally, there may be one night of "summer-camp style" lodging at Mole National Park.
Community Life Church prioritizes trip participants' safety. We travel through the villages in groups and adhere to recommendations provided by our hosts. We avoid known high-risk areas and vigilantly monitor any potential threats. Non-compliance may result in early departure at the participant's cost.
Ghana is a beautiful place to visit with opportunities for safaris, visiting local markets, historical sites, and possibly a crocodile pond.
Anyone who is willing to go share the love of Jesus! People of any vocational background are welcome as there are plenty of opportunities to serve! It would be beneficial to take into consideration the following factors when contemplating participation in this trip:
Leading up to the trip, spiritual meetings, pre-trip devotionals, and assigned readings prepare team members. The focus is on understanding your identity in Christ, sharing the Gospel through your personal story, and deepening your relationship with Christ. After the work is done, there's time for reflection on what the Lord accomplished and taught during the experience.
