He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
— Romans 8:32

Over the past couple of Sundays, we have been teaching you how to become generous. The truth is that anyone, even non-Jesus followers, can apply these sermons to his or her life and become generous. But Christian generosity is different from garden-variety generosity.

It is different because, at the core, Christian generosity is a response. It’s a response to the incredible generosity from God. God so desired to forgive you of your sins, redeem you and have relationship with you that he spared no expense, not even the expense of his Son. And Romans 8:32 tells us,  “He who did not spare his own Son… will graciously give us all things.”

How can you trust God to give you all things? Because He didn’t spare his own Son! If he didn’t spare his own Son, he’ll give you everything. You can trust him for everything!

Because he has given us everything we have, we give everything we have to him! It’s an honor to give back to the one who has given us his all! It’s a form of worship when we take some of the abundance he has given us, and give it back to him. It’s an acknowledgment that he is the reason why we have what we have. He is the reason we have life and breath. He is the reason we have hope of life eternal. So we give generously, because our Father has spared no expense in his generosity toward us!
