The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life.
— Proverbs 22:4

I often find myself comparing my life to others; “If only I made the money they did, had their clothes, had their skill set, had their knowledge.” I have to remind myself of all that God has given me that I didn’t deserve. God has given us all endless opportunities to serve others, honor him, and attain wisdom to use the things that he has blessed us with.

The best gift from God to be reminded of is his son, Jesus Christ. I love the lyrics from Living Hope by Bethel:

The God of Ages stepped down from glory
To wear my sin an bear my shame
The cross has spoken, I am forgiven

God so lovingly sent Jesus to save us from the darkness we are born into. Our response to that is praise and surrender! We honor God by following his word and loving others. He has also given us the Holy Spirit and his word to help guide us through every part of life. He goes before us and knows what’s best for us.

When we put our trust in him, He will not let us fall. If you have not experienced this grace, the Bible says in Romans:

If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from death, you will be saved. For it is by our faith that we are put right with God; it is by our confession that we are saved.
— Romans 10:9–10

Salvation does not mean that life is easy from here on out, but it means that you have eternal life in heaven, you are never alone, and you have the spirit of God dwelling inside of you! I encourage you to spend time today in the Bible and in prayer. If you have accepted Christ today, I would also encourage you to tell someone. That is something to celebrate! Next, follow up with baptism and find a group of believers to get connected with.

God is for us and never against us. We are his children, and he is our good Father. He is worthy of our praise! I pray you will honor him in everything you do today!
