In your name I will hope, for your name is good.
— Psalm 52:9

We need hope. It is a powerful and positive force in our lives. People without hope are in a very sad place.

As Christians, we have a great hope. In fact, Romans 15:13 tells us that our God is the very source of hope.

May God, the source of hope, fill you with joy and peace through your faith in Him.
— Romans 15:13

Let’s look at three things that you can count on that should give all Christians hope.

  1. God’s presence is watching over us. (Isaiah 41:10)
  2. God’s purpose is working in us. (Romans 8:28, Philippians 1:6)
  3. God’s place is waiting for us. (John 14:1–2)

The hope and confidence we have in our God should give our lives focus and purpose.

It is easy in today’s world to get distracted and lose sight of what is truly important. In our individual and business lives we can fall into the activity trap. We often choose to get involved in a lot of stuff, while not doing anything very well. The Word calls us to remember to put first things first. The things that are the most important should never be at the mercy of the things that are less important.

The Word gives us a clear focus with the greatest commandment:

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and strength and the second is like unto it. Love your neighbor as yourself.”
— Matthew 22:31–39

How much hope do you have today? As children of the King, we should have a lot. Our God is watching over us, his purpose is working in us, and he is waiting for us.

The first step in this process of having a hope to hold on to is becoming a Christian. If you have not taken that first step, do it today. Contact a Christian friend or one of our pastors (clifec.com/staff) to guide you through this decision.
